[RESOLVED] Want To Upgrade From Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz To 3.0 Duel Core
I have a couple of music programs that will not work with Windows 7 so I have to use XP. The computer I have now for this has a Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz processor. Would I get more umph if I went to a duel core 3.0 processor obviously with a different mother board?
Thanks.

It depends on what new cpu and motherboard you are talking about. You can't compare Mhz to Mhz. A Core2 cpu at 2.66GHz would run circles around a P4 2.66.
In general, faster core speed should help. Dual core would help if your app supports multiple cpus.

Thanks for the reply
The mother board and CPU would be new. That answers the question.
Thanks
