In this forum, we make sure, your computer is free of malware and your computer is clean
Because the access to malware forum is very limited, your best option is to create new topic about your current issue, at Windows section.
    You'll get more attention.
Thanks for the good news and for your help.

But I still can't get inot Safe Mode and all my search to rectify this so far seems to indicate that I need to do a full reinstallation of my system. If this is the case, then all our efforts and work over the past few days to make the system infection free would be wasted, wouldn't it ?

What do you mean by "wasted"?
I can't say your computer is clean by looking into a crystal ball.
I need to run some tools to do it.

Some infection has bee removed and at this point your computer is clean.
That's what I do in this forum.
I can't guarantee I'll fix your other computer problems.

Since your computer is clean there is nothing else we can in this forum.
That's why I sent you to Windows forum.

Wasted in the sense that if we knew that a fuill reinstall is needed, then we won't have spent all those time trying to get rid of the infections.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it is your fault or anything. It is just me thinking out loud and I apologies if that comment has offended you. It was not meant to be so and I am grateful for all your help. It's just a pity if a full reinstall is needed in the end.

    We didn't.

I suggested new topic in Windows forum but you decided to go for reinstallation that's your choice.

It's a bit complicated. But my comments in post #28 there, last para. applies to booting from Safe Mode also and will give you some idea. But now, can't boot in Safe Mode on both settings which looks like no other options except a reinstall
