Internal CardReader: xD Card mostly not recognized
When inserting my xD card in the internal cardreader of my desktop PC (Win7 Prof), it usually is not discovered, until I disable and enable the "Generic- SM/xD-Picture USB Device" under "Disk Drives" in the Device Manager.
Once this has been done, inserting and removing the card is now discovered instantly for the remainder of the session.
What can be done to fix this?
Could it be some missing service?
Greetings from Germany
Joachim

It could be a service that is not starting automatically, or drivers that are not being loaded at boot time.
There are some things you can try:
1. Check Services to see what is running after a cold boot. Then, when you get the card reader working, check Services again to see if anything else is not running that wasn't before.
2. Check Event Viewer to see if there is anything that is failing to start when you boot.
3. Try booting up with a card in the reader to see what happens then.

Thank you.
@1: Almost impractical, as there are so many services listed.
@2: Didn't find anything obvious. There are some cryptic messages though and I can't tell what they might mean.
@3: Yes, when booting with the xD card inserted, it is detected.

Problem solved
I uninstalled Acronis True Image Home 2012 and the problem was gone.
I re-installed the latest True Image Home 2012 Build (ATIH2012_7119_en-US) and the problem did not return (so far).
