Thanks MAXTOR
This one is just a GOOD hardware story - they're getting rarer.
Recently a machine with some drive problems was given to me to fix, and it had a failing Quantum Fireball CX in it. I was a bit worried about the nature of any warranty as I knew that Quantum had been absorbed by Maxtor but they were excellent about it - they honored the warranty replacing the drive with an improved model and it was delivered in a few days. It couldn't have been any smoother.

Nice to hear good news for a change.
(Especially since I just bought a Maxtor HD.)

Maxtor is EXCELLENT with warranties!!! I've had to use them twice for drive replacements, and every time, they were great! As was said in the original post, I once even had a new drive shipped to me that was larger than the bad one, seemed the old model was discontinued and they had to send me the next best for replacement. Very noble of them in my opinion...

Very Good! I also try to give good credit reports to good service in an ever declining customer satisfaction society. Chalk one up on the good guys for a change.
