[RESOLVED] Emails within a home network
Hello There,
I hope this is the right forum.
Where I work we have a 3 computer home network for file and printer sharing.
We are connected through a basic Linksys hub. Nothing special.
There is NO INTERNET CONNECTION.
Windows XP Pro SP3 on all computers
Can we set up MS Outlook to email each other?
Could you direct me to a tutorial of some sort?
If not using Outlook, is there a free program out there that we can use?
Thanks,
Dave

An email server must be set up on your network. I replaced Exchange on my Win2003 home server with hMail on a Windows 7 box. I've not used it without an internet connection and a real domain but I suppose it is possible. You'll need to create a "domain" of some sort so that email addresses are proper.

Thanks ua549,
An email server must be set up on your network.
Well that's not happening here.
How about a messaging program [ free of course ] as we are a charity and there is no money available.
Thanks,
Dave

Suit yourself. hMail is free and all it needs is a bit of configuration for it to work.
Just install it on a machine that stays on most of the time. Then you can use Outlook for messaging.

There are some good freeware LAN messaging utilities here:
