All I can really do now is wait until monday am and call HP and see if they have stock.
Oddly, the HP order page that I initially filled to purchase a tablet keeps adding 4 x 19 dollar packages of printing paper to my shopping basket. I delete them but each time I've gone back they return.

From all that I am reading....they are pretty much gone everywhere now. In fact, places that accepted orders are now sending out cancellation messages because they were under-stocked and over-sold. It would appear that when the rumors first began, people bought at the old price and planned to get price-match refunds. So the things were sold out even before the actual price drop happened. Now Amazon still lists both pads, but at old prices. The question being bantered about there is "will Amazon" price-match?" Their policy says the only product they do that on is TVs....but some claim that Amazon reps have told them they will honor the lower price if it exists at time of shipping....AND ships from Amazon direct.
I figure my last shot is to keep checking the HP site where it is listed at $99 and $149 but out of stock. Once they get back the return shipments from Best Buy and others....they may re-open sales. Who knows....

Amazon's stated policies:
With the exception of TVs, we do not offer post-order price matching when an item's price drops after you buy it. Our prices regularly change, and the price you paid when your order shipped was the lowest price we were able to offer at the time. We consistently offer competitive prices on everything we carry because we know low prices are very important to our customers.
....and
With the exception of TVs, Amazon.com doesn't price-match with other retailers (including those who sell their items on our website). We do, however, consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry.
In some cases our website offers lower prices via the used and new offerings available from Amazon Marketplace or Merchant sellers. For more information, see our Marketplace Help section.
At this point....I won't be taking a $400 chance that Amazon will honor the fire sale price after the fact.

I hope it's not true. My last three computers have been HPs.

I got one !!!!!!!!
Took me three computers and 4 hours....all banging on HP small business website....getting out of memory errors. Had to enter my info about a dozen times because each time I tried to send.....error....start over. In fact never got an order conformation because of errors...but my bank account shows a pending transaction with HP Direct.
That server is a wreck now since PC Mag publicized they were available there....
If you want to try

If it makes you feel better...I am a little nervous about how this went down. No confirmation screen due to server error....no email confirmation...no way to track. For all I know, I bought a dozen of the things (because of all the refreshes) and overdrew my account. Can't get through to HP support because of continued server errors. Not sure what I got myself into this time.....LOL

As wobbly as that server was....I wouldn't be surprised by anything...including getting nothing at all. The only thing I recall is something about delivery date being the 25th and they wouldn't charge my account until they shipped. Tomorrow is Sunday, so I imagine I won't know anything until Monday when the bank opens.
I have a headache now. I'll never get involved in one these races again.....LOL
And you know what? I just got a netbook...I really have no need for this touchpad. I got caught up in the "event".....LMAO

Good news Fink....
I finally got a confirmation email, and I didn't accidentally buy a dozen units....and also didn't buy any crates of printer paper.
Latest rumor says that HP is temporarily sold out, but will open a new website next week to start selling again. Supposedly, Best Buy alone, is returning over 200,000 pads to HP warehouses.
