Installing COD United Offensive on Vista?
I loaded my COD with serial #'s on Vista Home Premium and it runs fine. I tried to load the United Offensive expasion pack (which ran fine on XP Pro) and get the error message: failed to load DLL. Validate Key and stops installing.
Does COD United Offensive install and run on Vista?
Thanks,
Mike

From what I can tell, CoD: UO can install/run on Vista, however, people have been reporting some lag issues with it while running it. I haven't seen your failed to load DLL error though, sorry.

At first it said Demoshield Runtime player has stopped working.
When I clicked on setup it would start to load and stops with the message: 0x80040702. Description: failed to load DLL: Validate Key. Set up will now terminate.
Maybe it's just not compatible with Vista.

Its not an error with installing on Vista, just an installation error in general. I did some checking, CoD: UO installs on Vista (doesn't run all that well, apparently, but installs at least). Also looked into your error, and found someone else who had the exact same problem, and posted it on another forum in 2005 (therefore, no Vista, so probably not specifically a Vista error). Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a solution to the problem . The one instance I found of your error, the only advice given was to turn off all running programs (firewall, AV, etc.) and try installing again, but the person with the error never replied back, so I don't know how effective that would be.

Thanks for all the research! I do turn everything off during install and it worked fine on XP Pro. I'll try a few more times...I believe I had made it through the whole game anyway.
Thanks again,
Mike

Sorry I can't be of more help
The only other thing I can think of is patching your CoD. You probably already have it fully patched, but its easy to forget these things sometimes. Personal experience tells me UO won't install properly unless CoD is patched to version 1.4, IIRC.
