Windows Update-mania!
Just purchased a Toshiba laptop with Windows7 Home Edition pre-installed.
Almost every time I turn it on it finds new updates and downloads them.
And almost every time I power it off it installs the updates.
I'm talking 19 out of 20 times I turned it on or off this happened. Sometimes it takes a good 10 to 15 minutes to install the updates before my laptop will power off.
Kind of pain in the rear when I want to bolt out of a place. I have wait and wait and wait.
I just changed the settings so that it will ask me first before downloading or installing. That way I can do both when I have time.
Question is: Is this frequency of new updates normal behavior for Windows 7?

Right now it seems to be happening. I just go to windows update and get them. Saves time in the long run for me.

Thanks
Good idea. Just making sure I'm not the only one going through this. Thank you.

Unfortunately, MS seem to have developed an annoying habit of producing updates on updates on updates. So you install one set, then once you reboot it goes and finds some more, then does that again and again
However, if you find it is trying to constantly install the same updates, then post back, because that can be solved.
Nick.

tbuccino--Go to the Windows Update site and click "View Update History" in the left column. Do you see duplicates of installed updates? Or many failures? (Microsoft Security Essentials has updates every day or two.)
