Resolved [RESOLVED] Windows7 Changes Faststone Capture

Hi All, .......... I'm still using a dual boot system of WinXP and Win7 that has the same FScapture version 5.3 program installed with each operating system. When I use the screen capture program with WinXP, the program produces normal results with no problems. However, when I use the program with Win7, what happen is the screen information approximately doubles in size and the right-hand side is unavailable. This happens for any of the choices; Active Window, Rectangle Region, Full Screen, etc. and the Settings has for Screen Magnifier, (None). Also the same thing happens with the program open but no choices made and the keyboard Print Screen key is clicked.

Has anyone experienced this condition or is there a solution to it when using Windows7?

I guessing that you've gone over and compared the settings with a fine tooth comb?

When you look at their web site - does it say it'll run on Win 7?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

    shrdlu--FSC works on my Win7.
Play around with the Settings (the last icon to the right on the mini tool bar).

Steve, Jim ....... First, to answer your questions, yes I did massage the Settings without any change in the results. I did look at whether the program was compatible with Windows 7. In general most of what if found indicated that Vista was the last Windows that could use FScapture 5.3 but one site indicated that the user was using Win7 Ultimate. My system is Windows Home Premium.

The solution came when I started thinking more about that word, compatibility and recalled that Win7 offers a fix that allows the computer to run programs made for earlier Windows programs. When I typed Compatibility in the Start-search block the troubleshooting process started and as I followed the instructions and screens came to a place for a check mark for "Program does not display properly when large scale font settings are selected." Win7 made adjustments and the screen capture size was exact. So apparently my problem was one of smaller font size in Win7 that does not occur with WinXP.

Steve, Jim, thank you for your interest and let's hope that these postings will be of help to others.

    shrdlu--Thanks for the good advice!
Somehow, my FSC .exe file was already set up to use Compatibility mode. I never thought to look at that since it was working.
