Links Are Being Redirected When Using Search Engines

I have a XP Pro machine that has both IE8 & Firefox on it. If I type a web address in everything is fine. I get to where I want. If I do a search through Google or Yahoo or any other search engine I do get a list of links pertaining to what I was looking for.

However, if I click onto any of those links I am getting redirected to a bunch of crazy websites. This is happening in both IE8 & Firefox. I have run just about every utility that I can think of and the problem still exists.

I have run Combofix, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Spybot , Hijackthis, Bit Defender, Microsoft Security Essentials, GMER, Avg Rootkit, F secure Black Light, and AVG. All of my scans come up clean . I even reset my Hosts File. The computer is working fine besides whatever is redirecting my browser.

What else can I try?

I believe what I am suffering from here is the Google Redirect Virus. I believe I have the problem fixed for Firefox. I used a tool that somebody created called GooredFix.exe It took care of Firefox so far but not IE8. Still trying to find the fix for IE8. I think I have finally gotten this browser redirect/jump problem solved. After running about 20 different utilities I finally got one to detect the hidden root kit and then remove it on restart.


The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that I had run this program a few days earlier and it did not identify any problems. I guess maybe the program was updated and it identified a rootkit that it was able to remove.

Train, I did use those instructions in this case and everything came up clean. This was one of the worst ones that I have ever seen. Somehow it was able to hide itself from all the removal utilities.
