    Wireless Radio off or on

On the Intel Proset wireless configuration, do you keep the Radio on or disable it for wireless Internet?

I have read all the Proset directions and it just says how to do it and no where about if it is needed or not or what it's for.

So enable or disable for wireless activity?

The "radio" they're referring to is what makes the adapter wireless - it's the radio frequency transmitter/receiver portion of the adapter.

Setting it on, you can transmit and receive. Turning it off, no wireless.

If it is a laptop, it is worth turning it off when using a wired connection, as it will make the battery power last longer.

So why do I have to go to VirtualDr to find out this information? Can't find it on Dell's website or Intel's Proset website.

So then it is the software switch for the wireless. There is a hardware switch on the side of the laptop and this is the software switch. What happen to just simple disable my wireless connection.

Why don't they explain these things? Who is writing this stuff?

Most folks can not relate wireless, cell phones and the like to radio. Actually a duplex setup at that.

Most laptops I have used have both the software and hardware switch, but plenty of those out there do NOT have the switch. Just have to check each one out.

So great. So in the online manuals it should say that the radio that you see on your Proset wireless software cannot be turned off to use the Internet. Always use this on or enabled position when you want to sending or receiving Internet or otherwise use your wireless connection.

Or they should have a defination not just say how to turn it off or turn it on.
People may think that there is a radio on their computer.

There is, in the wireless nic. If the radio is on, you can hit the internet.
