PC won't even boot to the bios
Hi all,
My pc won't boot to the bios or even make that 'beep' at the start anymore and i'm not sure how to find the problem when i can't even get anywhere.
I have disconnected everything but the essentials so it’s just a mobo, PSU, 1 stick of mem, gfx card and 1 HD.
The power comes on and the fans all start up but it just stays there, nothing appears on the screen.
any ideas where to go from here?

i just had the exact same set of problems on my new board.
1--Try a known good video cable. If it's a video card, try reseating it, or swap in another card. I use a couple of old cheap cards for that.
2--Mine didn't POST because it requires the little front speaker for that, and my case doesn't have one. A friend attached his speaker, and we heard and interpreted the beep codes as a bad RAM stick, but the mobo was fine. Some mobos POST onboard, others need the speaker, some can be switched in the BIOS from speaker to onboard. Check your mobo manual diagram. You might have to reattach the speaker from the case.
3--Once you can get beeps, try the RAM in the other slot, then swap out the sticks.
Past that, you have to wait for the Shinma again. He's having dinner with Mrs. Shinma and all the little Shinmas. I think they drink blood.

First of all try clearing the CMOS in case it got scrambled. There should be a jumper on the motherboard to do that, if there isn't or you can't find it then pulling the motherboard battery out for a few minutes will achieve the same result (unplug the power lead as well).

I just went through this exact same routine with my new mobo. Hope you find success here, as mine is a week old and still under warranty.
Ah, I think John has gone away for the 3-day holiday, and I hope he's under a shady maple reading a favorite book and far, far from his comp.
