    Cannot Delete Folder/File

Hello All, .......... A temporary folder from the Avira anti-virus program is stuck to my computer and refuses to be dislodged. This folder has the form of TEMP/File. The file content is 31.7 MB. Here is what I have tried so far:

Avira Forums where I got lost in the Delete virus content.
    Move on boot (with reboot).
    Unlocker (with reboot).
    Disk Cleanup of C: drive
Take Ownership XP using Microsoft Article ID: 308421.
    Various TEMP removal programs.

Strangely enough, when I operate in Safe Mode the TEMP folder is empty (no File) but after a normal reboot the problem is still there.
    What am I missing?

Here is virtually everything there is to be known about moving, or removing recalcitrant files or folders:

You cannot delete a file or folder

Or here is a nice utility that can delete files that defy all other attempts:

    Move on boot
    Nick.

Do you still have Avira installed and running? Check Task Manager for signs of any Avira remnants.

    SuperSparks,
I reviewed the Microsoft support page about deleting files or folders on an NTFS system and unless I'm not understanding some of the more esoteric causes for problems and their causes, I can't see anything that applies to my present situation. Also, in my first post I did mention that I had used "Move on boot." I repeated all the choices which that utility offers (several times) and still can't locate the problem source of file in use, etc.

    jdc2000,
In the repeat attempts to delete, move, or copy I did eliminate the actions of the internet on the Avira program by disconnecting the modem from the Comcast server and also disabling Avira. In Task Manager there were no Applications running and the CPU Process showed 1%.

The only unusual thing that I see is that for some strange reason the icon associated with the Avira avguard.tmp file is from the Videolan Vlc media program. Thank you both for offering to help and I must say that the non-delete condition is frustrating.

If you are still using Avira, then chances are you will not be able to delete the file, since it may well be in use. Even if you could delete it, it might be re-created again by Avira.

    jdc2000,
Well I took the easy way out and removed Avira completely and installed another anti-virus program. Eventually I may go back to Avira. Thank you for your continued interest and I'm sorry that we could not reach a more satisfactory conclusion.
