    ESET Smart Security

I use Avira Antivir Personal Free . A friend has advised that I use Eset and has even given me a copy. What do you say?

I'd say that although Eset/Nod32 is a very good a/v you may want to be sure that it's legal to use it if your friend is also using it with the same license (hint... it very likely isn't).

Otherwise I'd be perfectly happy using either of those a/v's.

If you're happy with no issues, I'd not be in a hurry to change. Unless you have a brand new, fast PC, NOD version 4 will not run as light as it used to. I am looking for something to replace it at work for our 20 something PCs... (Paid Avira won't be it as it has issues with the winsock on healthy XP PCs.)

The disk your friend gave you could be a trial offer. After you install it you could have 30 days or more to try it. If you like it you'll need to buy it. You might want to ask him before you install it.
