Thank you all for the replies. I dont know wha I am doing wrong I could not get any of them to work. I tried downloading some and nothing happened after I clicked run. One other one said it would email the file back and nothing happened. Are there limits on how many pages you can convert with free versions? Mine is actually a cookkbook. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks again.

Adobe files can be "locked" to prevent copying. In Adobe Reader, open the file, click Document > Security. It will display the restrictions/permissions in effect. Note to other users, posting hacks to break security is not allowed.

I guess I will have to buy the program to convert my file. It is locked but I don't know why I can't unlock it because it is my doc. I made it in a program you pay to enter your recipes and then I was going to print it out but I wanted to do some things I can't with Adobe. Does anyone know how I can unlock it? When I went to documents and security it did not say how to unlock it. Thank you.

AFAIK you will have to go back to the original program to change security. A primary benefit to using PDF is that you can prevent changes to the file.
As a last resort you can highlight each page, press Ctrl-C to copy the page, then paste (Ctl-V) into a Word document. You will lose formatting and illustrations but its the best I know if you can't recreate the document in the original program.

While we're on the subject, not many people know that PDF files:
- Can be flagged by the author to "phone home" when the document is opened. The latest versions of Reader will notify the user that usage is being audited.
- Can be restricted as to the time frame when the file can be opened
- Can be restricted as to the amount of time the file is open
- Opens and closes can be tracked
Big Brother may be watching.
PDF files can be embedded in web pages and processed automatically. If there is a security flaw in Reader it can be exploited even if your browser has all the lastest patches. Be sure you keep Reader updated.

Spyware Dr's instructions are for IE. For FireFox -
For Adobe Reader
- Disable javascript: Tools > Options > Content and un-check "Enable JavaScript".
- Prevent PDFs from opening in browser: Tools > Options > Applications and change Action for all Adobe applications (probably the first five entries) to "Always Ask".
- Update: Help > Check for Updates....
