    Excel 2003, embedded query

    Hello,

I have a spreadsheet with an embedded query pointing to an access database (using an ODBC datasource). I THOUGHT that I could move the datasource's file, update the ODBC datasource and the spreadsheet would work. However, the location of the MDB appears to be embedded in Excel. When I try to modify the query, it says it can't be modified. Is there a way to adjust the query in the spreadsheet to point to a new MDB??? I have done 30 spreadsheets this way!

    Thanks!

    Possibly useful link:

    Code:
    http:// e z i n e a r t i c l e s . com/?Using-the-Query-Wizard-in-Excel-2003&id=1451304
(removed the spaces after the two slashes and before the com - VDr would not let me paste the URL)

You may find that you have to recreate the query if you can't edit it. When I create macros for Excel that need a file location which might change, I store that information in a cell in the spreadsheet and have the macro use that data to make it easier to change. There are other places to store that information as well, depending on your needs.
