Changing settings for the task (?) bar

With W98, in the area at bottom of screen (to the right of the Start button and to the left of the system tray with the time display): Right now I see four items: Desktop, MyComputer, NetworkNeighborhood, and RecycleBin -- none of them what I want.

I <used> to see the names of programs that I had minimized and I could recall them up by clicking the title. How do I go about resetting my parameters to restore minimized programs to that area?

BTW: Is the area at bottom of screen (to the right of the Start button and to the left of the system tray with the time display) aclled the System Tray, or something else?

    Thanks.

It's called the Taskbar. Pick an empty spot on the Taskbar, put your cursor there and right click, select Toobars from the dropdown box and uncheck anything you don't want. Should take care of it for you. If it doesn't just put it back the way it was.

If you right click on these items do you get an option to Delete? Or you should be able to drag these items out of the Quick Launch area or the Quick Launch folder. That folder is found in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
