[RESOLVED] Word Pad File Problem
A friend of mine has a computer with Windows XP Home, service pack 3, 2.66 cpu, 1.2 gig memory. It is a Dell computer. I don't know any more about it. Below is the problem with one file. Any idea what's going on?
Thanks
Here is what is happening with a file on my computer.
It is a Word Pad document in my document file.
When I click on it and then click open a box comes up
that says: Word Pad at the top. The message is
"cannot load Word for Windows 2.0 files."
I can open all of my other Word pad documents.

Is it an important file? Where did it come from?
Word Pad and MS Word both use .doc files...Mayeb the file is from WORD and has some heavy formatting that simple little Word Pad can't deal with.

Thanks for the replies!
I think she told me she created it about a year ago and recently modified it but now it won't open. I will see her tomorrow and try to get a more definite answer.

I didn't get to see her but this is what she e-mailed me.
I created the file as a word pad document last year and had opened it and
edited it a couple of weeks ago. Then when I tried to reopen it a couple of
days ago it wouldn't let me open it.

Or open it in Notepad, copy the content (leaving out the header) and paste it in a new Wordpad document.

pipercub--Try renaming the extension of the file to .txt and see if Notepad/Wordpad will now open it. The formatting may be askew, but the text should be there.
