VCR to DVD
My assistant took three old VHS tapes and burned them onto a DVD-R using a Toshiba D-VR7KC2 recorder.
I can play the disk on a stand alone DVD player but not my laptop. I use WMP 9 on my laptop and have DivX7 loaded.
The drive sees the disk in Properties (100% used) but can't read the disk.
Are we missing a step for use on a laptop?

Can you play standard commercial (movie, etc.) DVDs on your laptop?

At work when I tried it . Didn't have a commercial disk. I'll give it a try though.
If a commercial disk works in it, what's the next step?

If a commercial disk works OK, then it may be that the DVD drive doesn't like DVD-Rs, or at least that particular brand of DVD-R. If a commercial disk doesn't work, then either you don't have the correct software, or the DVD laser may be bad. Can you read DVD-R data discs?

Will check it out first chance I get.
It's a brand new laptop so probably the wrong software.
Thanks very much for the point in the right direction though.
