NTVDM

Hi,

I'm having a problem with a Server 2003 SP2 box. When a 16bit app runs, an error appears stating that NTVDM.exe encountered a hard error. There is nothing in the event logs that indicates what the problem is.

I rebooted this server last week and hall.dll was missing or corrupt so I repaired the OS. Ever since that time, this NTVDM error has been appearing.

I tried the hotfix from Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937932), but that did not help. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you run antivirus/antispyware on the box?

Thanks Midknyte. That article applies to Windows 2000 and NT. I'll follow it as close as possible.

Yes it's win2k and NT, but 2k3 is very similar. At least try it first.

Malware/viruses can also cause the 16-bit error, so make sure you system is clean.
