    Resolved [RESOLVED] "msconfig" error

    Win XP SP3/Celleron
    --------

Trying to run 'msconfig' (from Run), I get this: "Windows cannot find msconfig".

This is strange, since i did it just a few days ago w/o any problem.

    Help.

    Thanks,

    BDS

BUT, the problem is still there, I mean msconfig cannot be opened thru Run, only thru this utility prog. Confusing.

BDS--Can you run other commands from Run, such as Regedit, Eventvwr, etc.?

Do you see "MSCONFIG.EXE" in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths"?

I have it, and it is: "C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries" (w/o quotes, of course), after the 1st link that Welsh provided, which doesn't work, though i did as they said.

BDS--Run SFC /SCANNOW from a command prompt. This usually restores/repairs corrupt operating system files.

I did and more, to no avail. I got a prompt sayin gthe files in Reg arek, still it doesn't show, all b/c Help is not active. It lacks "dataspec.xml". I found a code, but I don't know how to upload it and doing it in the right place. I tried many solutions, from many places, including an MS KB one spec. for the problem.

RESOLVED for real now. I opened (thru %windir%\INF) the pchealth.inf/props/install, inserted the XP CD and browsed to dataspec/xml and ok the 'copy' prompt.

BUT Help & Support doesn't show, in spite of all i do, and i do A lot. When runing FixWinXPHelp.zip it says that the Reg files are all ok, but clicking it from Start comes to nothing.

The prob is that I have a Win XP SP2 CD, not SP3, so if I want to reinstall XP, it will only perform a NEW installation, which erases former user accounts w a lot of resulting problems.
I have to go to the shop where I assembled my beast and beg for a CD w XP SP3. Figure I'll get it, since I got the former one w SP2 when buying the item, so wby not now, right?

ALL RESOLVED, Help & Support, too. Surely b/c of the installation of pchealth.inf mentioned in the prev. post.

    I'm very, very happy.
