    Question X Box connection?

I let my grandson run his x box today on the cable connection, pc was shut down.

When we disconnected the modem, had to unplug it also to set the isp for x box, then we we rebooted i kind of died almost.

It came up something like Registry installer, more to the string but that's all i remember,
when i asked my grandson to come back in the room, the system was rebooting and did, but we had to shut it down again, unplug the modem let it boot again to get a network connection, there was none on the first boot, and the registry line did not appear on the 2nd.

If i had the Linksys router set up would that be a better way to connect? I am not an x boxer or gamer.

    eg

vista home premium 32 bit amd 64 athlon x2 4600

Yes, a router will allow you to share your single connection to the Internet, (i.e., your single, ISP-assigned IP Address), among several of your internet-capable devices.

    Most routers provide:
    • IP Address Routing
    • Network Address Translation (NAT)
    • LAN connectivity like a Network switch
    • DHCP functions
    • And last but not least, Firewall functions
Note also that most routers use internally-stored firmware, which means they can usually be used with most any Operating System.
