    Exclamation Network connections

    Hi all,

Here's what happened: I started Avast free scanner, it asked to reboot the laptop and continued to scan in it's pre-WindowsXP mode. Found some viruses, and asked what to do. I have entered "delete all" - nothing happened, the comp was already "frozen" and nothing helped. The only way was to shut it down by power button.

On the nex boot, I mentioned that all my "network connections" were lost. No icon in the taskbar, no icon in the folder.

I have scanned once more with Avast, deleted all viruses, but still nothing.

    Please heeelp!!!

Looks like the scan took out your NIC card drivers or possibly the TCP Stack.

Let's start with repairing the core system files (have your XP CD handy, you may need it). Open a command prompt (Start --> Run --> cmd) and type:

    sfc /scannow

....press Enter. This scan will run for ~20 minutes. Reboot your computer and check Device Manager again. Post back with the results.

    Absolutely nothing.

Started the process, then it asked win xp disk, then file protection line went till the end and this is it. Absolutely no changes and no result.

    Try this:
    1. In Device Manager, right-click each device with a "!" next to it, (one at a time), and select "Uninstall".

    2. Reboot.
When Windows is loading back up it should rediscover the devices and attempt to get them set back up for you.

Nothing. I even can not uninstall all of the devices.

Download and run Winsockfix. Post back the results (with more information than just 'nothing').
