I've emailed my issues so we'll see what happens!
Thanks for the links, I also found a way of installing a new set of update programs but that hasn't helped either. There are now only 5 which won't install, it all looks ok but then I get a "not configured correctly, reverting changes" on the same type of green 'updating installation' screen.
The fault code is 800B0100 which I've searched but haven't been able to fix it.
Thanks for all the help Doc, I'll post back if there are any solutions from Microsoft.
PS: Is there a repair option in Vista that re-installs it without losing all your settings and programs?

I give up, ordered 7 so will start with a nice clean install & hope for the best Thanks for all the help though, and no word from the '24 hour response' microsoft email service
