    Save As (Not Responding)

On my Gigabyte T1028X running RC build 7100 (fully patched) with 2GB memory and a 64GB SSD I frequently get a "Not Responding" error when doing a Save As. For instance in MS Word 2007 trying to save a document as an earlier version, in MS Word 2007 having made changes to a document and performing a Save As to save as a new document or in IE8 trying to down load a file and save it to disc.

Sometimes this happens once and then works on the next try. Other times Save As will not work until after I reboot.

Any ideas on how to fix this, it is very annoying.

    Regards,

    Glyn

You might want to start a log on this. Jot down what you were doing prior to having a bad "save as" moment. Meaning, maybe it happens after you burn a cd or watch a dvd...
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Go into Control Panel>power Options, and change the timeout value so that Windows does not power down the drives. I found that it was a royal pain in Vista and used to give me "not responding" messages, and the default settings are exactly the same in Win 7. In the end I set mine to 1440 minutes (24 hours), and it stopped all that nonsense.

    Hi Steve R Jones,

    Will do.

    Hi SuperSparks,

I made the changes you suggested however I am still experiencing this intermittent problem.
