Thinkpad connected to a widescreen
Hi. I have a thinkpad R60 laptop. It's display resolution options in windows xp only give me two options: 800x600, and 1024x768. I have the latter resolution.
I would like to connect this to my widescreen 32inch tv (i.e., as a monitor through a VGA cable) and watch my personal videos.
When I connect the vga cable, the laptop screen shows up on the tv, but in a 1024x768 resolution, which means there are black bars on the left and right of the screen.
How can I make my laptop show widescreen images?
Thanks!

Don't know, but I connected a newer Dell which is itself a widescreen laptop and that showed up widescreen on the TV too, covering the whole screen. My Dell laptop was 1280xwhatever. I'm fine with that much from the Thinkpad too, but thinkpad doesn't seem to allow it. I think the TV supports higher res.

Since your Thinkpad has an ATI X1400, it should have higher resolutions for it. Have you tried updating the driver?
