Blank black screen no signal?
Motherboard Intel SE 7520BD2D
Intel Xeon Dual processors 2.8 ghz
BIOS Intel Corp
Video Onboard ATI-Rage XL SVGA, 8MB SDRAM
40 Gb Maxtor HD OS only.
Ram 2x1024 MB
PSU 700 W
Monitor Acer 20"
Tried.-
1. Remove and reset Battery.
2. Reset bios by pin reset 1-2 to 2-3, and than replace to 1-2.
3. Placed OS DVD/CD in drive and left in. Drive did flash on boot up, but nothing on screen and drive just flashed, not running.
4. Tried leaving rescue disk 1 of 6 in floppy drive. Drive did flash on boot up, but nothing on screen and drive just flashed, not running.
5. Tried with DVD/CD in as well as Floppy disk in. Nothing.
Summary.
Blank Black screen, No signal message.
F8 repeating no result.
Changed screen for a standard 15" same results.
My only guess is that the Video on board is not activated? I did not change anything regarding Video in Bios.
Only sequence of boot up (Primary HD , Secondary, DVD/CD, Third Floppy.
No over clocking,
Originally, I booted up, got the F1, and F2 messages. Did the set up of boot sequence, and was fine.
Rebooted with an add-in HD that was a Samsung 120GB as secondary HD, But OS did not like it so I removed.
I shut down for the day.
In the process of getting a driver for the sound card.
Re-booting, and got the Black Screen.
Checked that slots are properly set, memory reset, Battery checks out.
all connections are properly seated. Even tried another VGA cord.
Both screen test OK on other system.
No Screen, means No getting in to anything.
No bios, No set-up, no reboot into SAFE Mode.
I did try the MAXBLAST disk in the DVD/CD, with same results, No screen signal, therefore can not use.
Suggestions.-

You're trying to install Win7 with an ATI Rage card? That's not going to work. You need at least a DX9 card.

I was using the computer for at least 5 DAYS.
while updating software, and installing USB card, Sata card, and was in process of installing the sound card, when it went Black Screen.
I have a friend who has a GeForce 8400GS card in computer.
Negotiating a "borrow"to try deal. with very fast turn-a-round.
I did try winxp pro and Home OS disks. but as get blank black screen,
no loading from DVD/CD.
I will remove all cards, and re-try, will keep posting results.
Thank you.

If you couldn't get XP to work, why did you try Win7? Or did you just post to the wrong forum?
and installing USB card, Sata card, and was in process of installing the sound card, when it went Black Screen.
When you install XP on a SATA card, you need to use the F6 option during setup.

After I could not get back on or in with windows 7. It was a trial, to see if any OS would work.
As it stands now, I have to resolve why "no signal"
My next step is to remove HD from unit and add as an external,
and see if there is a log of any kind that would give me some insight as to what happened.

If you are not able to get the BIOS Setup display, then either the monitor is bad or the computer has a hardware problem. Try the monitor on another computer. If it works, then you may have a bad video adapter, bad power supply, or a motherboard problem.

If you're getting no display on the monitor at all, then it's not a Windows problem.
Did you try testing the ram one stick at a time?

In original post did say that I tried a second monitor, with same results.
I have since, tested both monitors with the cabling on other system to prove out monitor and cabling. both tested OK.
frebo
Power Supply is Roketfish 700W Brand new, first use.
Fan running, has a blue LCD light, the DVD/CD lights up on the boot up as a search, No beeps other than when the HD is activated.
How do I test out a PS? Place in another computer? or is there another way, in the unit?
midknyte
will pull ram and test on other computer.
Thank you, for your helpful Ideas, most appreciated, don't feel left out.
Will repost after tests

All systems GO.-
It was the OnBoard Graphics. but also other problem.
Like the HD I had (Maxtor 40Gb) drive is not recognized
The HD is showing in Device Manager on another computer, but not in Disk Management. Set aside for further study.
Thanks for your tips and links,
It took some work to check out, Memory.....OK, PS...OK, Monitor...OK, HD.... Failed.
Loading clone onto another HD, insert, and than Borrowing graphics card from Friend,
inserting testing... and working.
Ebay purchase of graphics card, wait for delivery, insert, and reboot, and go through process of loading window 7.
That's where I am at now, No sound...will have to check to get driver for sound card (Creative PCI 128)
Appreciate your support on this one. Sure a lot of Frustrating moments.
