Safari browser opinions
is anyone here using Safari as their browser ... I have a spare computer that I play around with and I have tried Firefox 3.5 and I hate it ... it seems to be very slow .. I ran the acid test with it and it only got 93 and it said LINK TEST FAILED .... as far as Opera goes it didn't score too well with the acid test either ... but when I tried Safari it scored 100 ... I have always used Internet Explorer and after reading everything about IE8 I refuse to install it .. too many problems ... so now, I'm wondering about Safari as a back up browser on my laptop which is running Vista ... is anyone on the forum using Safari and what is your opinion of it ... thanks for your help

The only people that I can see using Safari would be Mac owners. Safari on Windows has had quite a few security problems, most recently last month.
Dunno why you think FF 3.5 is slow. It's pretty fast for me. If you didn't try any addons, you're missing most of what FF has to offer. Moving on.
Opera is usually one of the faster browsers. 9.64 is still pretty fast. 10 Beta is even better.
If you want a browser that scores 100 on ACID, then go with Google Chrome.

I too am surprised by your FF 3.5 results. It's pretty fast on the 3 machines I have it on. There are some reports around of some having slow startups but I haven't seen it. (Besides, a slow startup is not a concern for me, unless it takes minutes, not seconds.)
As for IE8, if I didn't have FF 3.5, it would be my browser. (Finally, Microsoft is understanding what users want in a browser!) It's the first IE since IE5 that I like.
Opera is a good browser, safety and speed-wise. But I have never been able to become excited about it.
I agree that Safari appears to be insignificant player for Windows users. It's not very configurable and as Midknyte notes, the Windows versions do not have a good history for safety.
And I also agree that Chrome is well worth considering. It does have a few issues with privacy (see the chart at this link for some things that may bring concerns for some http://www.srware.net/en/software_sr...me_vs_iron.php ), but it also has many boosters. And Chrome is VERY FAST!

thanks ... I tried Chrome and hated it ... also tried Opera and it was definitely faster than Firefox ... Firefox was most definitely slower than the others ... aside from the slowness of Firefox I didn't like the way it puts a box around links that are clicked on .. some pages this didn't happen, but on this forum whenever I clicked on a post to read it not only underlined what I clicked on, it put a dotted box around it too ... I have tried Firefox on 2 computers here and on both comps Firefox is slower than IE 7 ... and I'm still puzzled as to why it failed the acid 3 test, on the test is said LINK FAILED
