    Problems viewing mov files

I have always been able to view my video files (from camera) until recently.
The media player opens the files but only gives audio not any video.
I downloaded the latest version of windows media player (before doing this I couldn't even get audio).
No other changes to my system have been done since being able to view.

I am running windows home xp.
Does anyone have any suggestions please.

If you don't want to use a self contained viewer like VLC, then something is wrong with QuickTime on your PC. It's the default codec for MOV files.

You might look into making sure your QuickTime is up-to-date. If updating doesn't work, try completely uninstalling QuickTime, rebooting and then installing the latest version.

You can get the latest version of QT at filehippo http://www.filehippo.com/download_quicktime_player/ I like downloading from filehippo better than Apple because Apple's website is confusing to me...

Go get the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack from here . It will use Windows media player 6.4 to play 'real' and 'quicktime' video without installing the bloatware that comes with with those players. It also installs all the codecs needed for most vid formats...
    Stupid question? No such thing!

    Thanks everyone
I tried the quicktime download - no difference.
I will now try the vlc.
