Hey,Hackers may suck. But this is a democracy dude. When people start "sensoring"then this is no longer a free country but a DICTATORSHIP!Or a NAZI nation.Think about what you are saying! There is a PRICE for freedom.I am willing to PAY that price even if it means not being perfectly safe.
While you're at it why don't you start circulating a petition to get rid of the 1st and second ammendments too!
I don't care what happens to me for saying this. You my friend are a communist socialist type, and are part of the cause for the atmosphere of "RIGHTS DESTRUCTION"
nO GROUP HAS THE RIGHT TO SILENCE ANOTHER.
I am not defending hackers. I am defending MY OWN right to freedom of speech and expression, and the right to assembler. If I had a religion that was undesirable would it be right to shut me up too? Sensorship of any thing like that is the birth pangs of taking away "your" rights too! Think about that!

I believe it was Winston Churchill who said: "He who sacrifices freedom for safety deserves neither"

I've learned as much from hacker websites as I have here. There is a wealth of information available, much of it applicable in everyday computer use. Most importantly I have learned how my computer can be compromised and have been able to successfully protect myself with firewalls, antivirus utilities and other programs that I would never have considered without having visited a number of hacker sites.
Another way to look at it is this...
Suppose your neigbourhood was frought with breakins and there was little you or anyone else could do to catch the perpetrators. Would you like to know what tools they use, what methods they employ, how to protect yourself, when they breakin, how, why, etc?
That's what these websites tell us..it's like having a burglar's diary and daily planner open in front of you..very useful knowledge indeed.
And this is without getting into the freedom of speech issue of which I'm a fervent supporter.

Duh, not a very popular post dude.....
Be carefull those HACKERS can be mean....watch your puter..
I agree with most of the replies, as FINK,I have learned a lot from the HACKERS web sites, most are not secretive about how they do it, and pass the information to the public.
Don't think thieves do this.
I wish I had the talent of some of those Hackers, as they make the "Bill Gates" type of people notice and work harder to make puter's Hacker Free........

I dislike the censorship aspect as well.
However, if I give you the tools to break into anothers house. Knowing there was no other use for them, the law would make me an accessory. I think the same should apply here.
If they were truly interested in securing computers and the net they would be working within a business environment, and not going on these ego trips, breaking into these 'virtual' homes and businesses.

Like i said I hang out with them.
Most of the ones I know work for some of the biggest companies, as security consultants, And make big bucks doing it.
ASk?? why they do it?? "the challenge"
You would be well served if you went after
people who build trojan programs that wreck your computer.
Hope this helps
