    A Most Excellent TIM

    Hey gang...I'm currently doing a major system upgrade. When reinstalling the Thermalright ULTRAe cpu cooler (having to use a new base plate for it), I decided to try out the Chill Factor thermal paste that came with the cooler instead of my trusty Arctic Silver 5. Wouldn't you know it...I'm experiencing LOWER idle/load temps on an overclocked i7 920 cpu (3.6ghz) than I was on a Q9450 cpu that was at stock speed(2.66ghz)...occasionally oc'ed to 3.4. Temps are anywhere from 3 to 5 degrees cooler on the new cpu. No change to the cpu cooler or intake fans or the application method. This Chill Factor TIM is pretty amazing stuff...not to mention there is no "cure time" as with Arctic Silver and it is non-conductive.

    Just thought some folks here might want to check it out and/or keep it mind if the subject ever pops up on the forum.

    Interesting to see if the temps stay down or if they'll creep up over time as the paste ages,keeps us updated.

    Hi, so we are to believe Bistro is not on commission here, what seedy mob have you connected up with? A new coolant paste that performs at levels unparrarelled in the history of computing. And to claim an extra endorsement in the way of innovative awards, thrust upon you by those grateful for your revelation.. shame I say, shame.

    wonderinguy34: Actually, it is a good idea to replace the TIM annually...or once a year...whichever comes first. I'll keep an eye on it.
