CD Drive Problem
Windows XP SP2
Both CD/DVD drives on the PC will not recognise installation/software CD'S but will read Photo CD's created on the CD burner. Both drives show in MY Computer and have checked for upper and lower limits in the registry. Have also tested the installation CD on another PC and works OK.
Any and all suggestions gratefully received, and thanks in advance
TP
PS Have thought of trying an external CD drive but suspect the same problem may occur

Before you do anything else, try cleaning the CDROM lens with a cleaning disc. You can get one from any music or electronics store if you don't have one already. Also, you can try washing the CD in lukewarm water with a few drops of detergent in it. That slightly alters the reflectivity of the disc, which sometimes helps.
Nick.
