    Windows 7 Beta Download Link

I now have a cable ISP and a download of the Win7 Beta took 1 hour and 42 minutes. I have it saved in a work folder and don't really know that I will install it and become a tester or not---never did that before.
Hopefully you can get it here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/e.../dd353205.aspx. I have 2 or 3 extra product keys. I offer this info not thinking it is wrong because we are talking " beta tester". A download would still be a necessity, however.

I have it installed on a P4 with 2GB ram and a AGP video card with 256MB ram. Runs ok. so far there doesn't seem to be any issues. I've only had it installed for about 2hrs.

Saw the link on /. .

That sounds like good news jdlenke. Enjoy the new toy.
I may install on a similar computer but with just 1 GB ram.

As for the offer of KEY's
It looks like they are only giving out 10 key's
10 for technet and another 10 for everyone else.

I personally have 3 technet 32-bit keys (have the 32-bit ISO)
5 non-technet 32-bit keys (Can't seem to finsh the download)
    5 non-technet 64-bit keys (Have the 64-bit ISO)

And everyone else I've talked to also has the same set of keys...

Thanks for the link Train. Still don't know what I will do with the Beta Win7 download as I would dread the August 09 deadline.

I installed W7 beta, yesterday morning. I went with a second HDD in my box, allows me the opt of reverting to my good known system. I recommend the Kaspersky AV 90 day free trial as AVG failed an install (after $$ spent). I was able to install Office 2007 with no hassle of a prior install. I suppose MS took that into consideration and thought it to be in their best interest.

One heck of a good idea there rounder; installing Win7 Beta to a second HD in your PC. I had "thought" about installing it in one of my external HDs. Your idea seems better to me. Thanks for sharing because I would not want to have to face what must be done come August 09.

Grabbed a 80 GB hdd on the shelf and installed to it.
    Decided to use this antique.

    Mainboard : MSI MS-6712
    Chipset : VIA KT600
Processor : AMD Athlon XP @ 1833 MHz
    Physical Memory : 768 MB (3 x 256 DDR-SDRAM )
Video Card : Standard VGA Graphics Adapter [GF 2 - 32MB AGP]
    Hard Disk : ST380011A (80 GB)
    DVD-Rom Drive : _NEC DVD_RW ND-3520A ATA Device
Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8169 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Operating System : Windows 7 Ultimate Professional 6.01.7000
    DirectX : Version 10.00
Windows Performance Index : 1.0 in vista. LOL

I know this much, if windows 7 is as fast as this version in this antique, my laptop will be updated!

Well you need to consider that this is just a beta release and once August gets here it'll be done and you'll say "boy i can't wait for the full version so I can get it" or you may say "that was crap and i'm glad i didn't buy it" either way it is a test bed and not meant for your mission critical uses. You then have the option of reinstalling your previous OS.

Sounds like a good plan to me Train. Now, when beta days are over all ya gotta do is just format that "extra" HD. Simply a great idea.

jdlenke, as expressed already; installing to a "separate" clean HD, all one has to do is just format the subject HD when the beta period is over.

Or DBAN it. About 3 layers deep. Easy to do and works.
