Question [XP] Dual anologue/digital video/monitor issue

Just downloaded and installed the latest k-lite codec pack (4.17). Had to uninstall the previous first which required a reboot before installing the newer version.

Now this could be a coincidence, but upon reboot, no video!!

My workaround was to fish out an old SVGA cable and hook that up from the monitor to the video card (both video card and monitor have dual analogue/digital interface). That at least gives me my video signal back.

So, is the digital part of my video card kapputt? I would've thought if a video card went, it went!

    Could it be software related?

Or can a monitor go dead on digital input and be okay on analogue?

Monitor is a Dell 1905FP, video card is NVIDIA GeForce 6800, OS is XP Pro SP3.

My next step is to try and get another digital video card to establish whether fault at video card end or monitor end.

Until then, any insight or previous experience welcome!

    TEk

It could go dead on digital and still work on analogue IMO. But I don't believe in coincidences like that. Try hooking it up to digital and then boot into Safe Mode and see what happens.

And reinstall the video drivers. Sounds like some got ripped out or corrupted big time.
