    Start\Programs Menu Has Two Lists

    Win XP Pro SP3

When I click start\programs I am presented with the list of programs. There are two separate lists in this column. One alpha list contains all programs that have an arrow on the right side to expand the menu. The other alpha list contains programs that do not have the arrow. This is terribly confusing because I must browse both lists when looking for a program. I have another computer that shows all programs in alpha order whether they have right side arrows or not. Sort by name doesn't help. It just arranges the programs by two lists - those with arrows and those without arrow. This is driving me nuts. How do I arrange ALL programs by alpha order, arrows or no arrows?

Did you install any program that alters the appearance of Windows, e.g. Window Blinds or other software like that? A foreign program like that comes to mind that would sort your Programs list in that manner.

Have you tried just dragging the items into the position you want, up or down?

No such program was installed. This is how programs are arranged by default when clicking "sort by name".

Jseidel your solution worked. I just dragged them to where they should be. That solution was so simple I should have thought of it. I think that's how I did it on my other computer. I am getting old. They say the mind is the first thing to go.

    Thanks for the help.
