    jpg missing in file types

    In Tools>>Folder options>>File types, I am trying to set all my jpegs to open with a certain program. That would be MS Picture Mgr. But there is no indication of this type of picture file. I hit New and try to create that extension and it shows but it never stays. And I can't set it to open with MS Picture Mgr. I see JPE and JPB and Jiff but can't get jpeg to stay there.
    What's up with that?

    The 3 jpeg file types I show.

    R-click a .jpg and select open with, select or browse to the program you want, be sure to check the always open with box. The OK out.

    Did that about 30 times. Yes I have two of those but the JPG won't even stay when I create it there. Hum!

    Have you got an antispyware or similar program running that may be monitoring and perhaps stopping changes to the registry?

    McCaffee Antivirus programs can cause that too.
