    PCI Universal Serial Bus

    When I run First Aid it says "The driver for this device are not installed correctly".

    "The PCI Universal Serial Bus device listed under the Unnamed Device section of the Device Manager has a problem".

    Maybe I'm not troubleshooting it correctly, any help would be appreciated.

    I believe that is Other Devices section. Have you checked that yourself (Right-click My Computer, Properties)? Have you run usbsupp.exe off the Win95 CD? Do you even need usb (may want to upgrade to Win98)?

    Yes, I believe it's Other Devices after checking again. I'm a newbie to this all, that's why I have First Aid. Also, sometimes when booting up the hardware wizard comes up.

    If you plan on using usb, you will most likely need to load the PCI-bridge, AGP drivers specific to your motherboard. Most boards I have seen are very particular about the sequence that these drivers are installed under Win95, or they simply allow Win98 to install its own. So, you may or may not need the motherboard manufacturer's install disk/drivers. If this is a new system, it was not configured properly to begin with.

    What would be the easiest way to resolve this? I don't think I'll need usb. Got the system in April of 1998 new. Any problems if I just ignore it?

    If you don't need USB support, it can be disabled in your bios configuration.

    Hello. an easy way to tell if you need usb installed is to determine what Hard Drive you have. UATA hard drives do perform better with USB installed. If you have PCI bridge listed under other devices in the Device Manager then you need to load it. If it prompts for a file not being found, point it to look in C:\windows\system. The file should be loaded there after you ran usbsupp.exe.

    I have a "fix" for the PCI bridge problem. I will email it to you, as the site that I downloaded it from no longer exists.
    You must save it in C:\ and double click on it to decompress it. Then just double click on the application and reboot your computer.

    It's a Fujitsu-Hard Drive. There was no PCI Bridge in Device Manager. Do it the BIOS way?

    I went ahead and disabled it in the Bios configuration. It seems to have worked. Thanks for your suggestions!
