SpywareBlaster Delays
On both my PC's it is taking longer and longer for the protection to "enabled" after downloading any set of updates.
I find that the IE updates go through in 3 or 4 minutes but the others (Restricted Sites and Mozilla Firefox) take a lot longer. One machine has been enabling protection for 30 minutes and is only now nearing completion.
Is this normal?
Any thoughts?

I've upgraded/updated three XP computers and one Vista computer over the weekend and noted a slowdown to perhaps 5 to 15 seconds (all have different processors and RAM) to "enable" protection. Nothing like you described though.
I would suggest you disable protection, uninstall the program, then reinstall and update program and again try to enable all protection.
If that doesn't work perhaps the Spywareblaster support forum could help.

Good luck...

beejay--SWB came out with a new version (4.1) of the program about ten days ago. Did you install it?
If not, do so, but follow the instructions for uninstalling the old version.
There also were new database entries on June 12.

Thanks for both replies.
I did in fact install v4.1 a few days ago after first following the instructions to disable protection, uninstall the previous version and then install v4.1.
Then, after receiving all the updates for v4.1, it took about 30 minutes to enable all protection.
Not sure what else I can do, apart from trying the SpywareBlaster forum suggested by Le Boule.

Do you have any other anti malware programs running that may be monitoring or restricting access to the registry? I'd try bypassing them temporarily to see if that helps.

I used to have exactly the same problem as you - I found that it was Webroot's SpySweeper causing the problem.
If you have it then simply close down SpySweeper before updating Spyware Blaster, or like me, get rid of SS altogether - bit of a resource hog anyway.
Best of luck
P.S. I see that you do indeed have SpySweeper. That will definitely be the problem.

Thanks for all your replies. The SpywareBlaster forum also suggested that SpySweeper would be the problem. It is!
Disabling it prior to enabling protection meant that the waiting time has reduced from 30 minutes to 3 seconds!
