Remove RegClean,,how to?
Is there a proper way to remove M$'es RegClean?
Have given it a try and each time i run it, it removes a DLL used by DirectX 8 and i have to re-install DirectX.
Just wondering if there is a particular method of removing it, or can i just delete everything?
Thanx

snarfll, Just right click on the RegClean folder or icon if you don't have it in a folder with the ReadMe file & the oadist.exe file that came with it. You could also just undo the Dll used by DirectX 8 after you use RegClean each time & it will put that entry back in the Registry. I had the same problem with RegClean & DirectX 7.0a so I deleted it and now use RegCleaner. Hope this helps.

Thanks Tufenuf, Main reason i asked was 'cause i put a shortcut to it on the taskbar(deleted icon i put on desktop) and just don't want to screw anything up with my deletions.
I've used JV's Reg cleaner for quite some time with no probs., but decided to give RegClean a' try also because of an article by Fred Langa saying that he uses both and in his opinion RegClean gets things Reg Cleaner leaves behind. But personally, i don't agree with that and don't "even" want to use a program that messes with DirectX!! Have had my share of probs with it in the past with DirectX 7 on this Win98FE machine and would just as soon not rock the boat.
Thanx again..

If the file it removes is [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\CLSID\{92187326-72B4-11d0-A1AC-0000F8026977}\ProgID]
@="Game Controllers CPL Handler" and it is in the 'Input' section of DirectX Diag, then it has to do with joystick ops. It can easily be replaced by saving that key in Notepad as a Reg file ie pen notepad, type REGEDIT4
paste in the above reg (ie HKEY........) and name it something like joystk.reg and put it on your desktop or somewhere. When RegClean takes it out, just doubleclick on the joystk, reg file and it will be reinstalled, without reinstallin DirectX 8.x. This will work on whatever reg entry it deletes ( just add the problem entry, etc).
I find that is the one small drawback with RegClean, but I also find that RegClean will find entries that are left over after I have already run OLE Clean,RegCleaner, and EasyCleaner.

Funny. Found 100 ways to install regclean and how good it was but not one mention of how to uninstall it. I guess they figure one never will. (??) Crazy.

Buffalo, Thanks for the tip. I may have to download RegClean again. I see that Microsoft has taken it and any references of it off their download site but there are a lot of other sites where one can still get it. Thanks again.
