Running XP SP2. Started having a problem last week. Pc would be a bit slower when first logging into any of our accounts. Then I noticed a pop-up would come up as soon as IE was opened(doesn't happen with firefox.) Its a different ad each time it pops up.....it is for a system clean....spyware/porn remover...one of them was advancedcleaner. Now it doesn't pop up anymore when you are logged in. When someone logs off and the next person logs it it may or may not pop-up

Ran these scans:

Ad-aware......deleted all bad cookies. Then went into all accounts and deleted all cookies and temp files

Spybot....deleted what was found

AVG antispyware....Came up clean

Trendmicro...Ran this and it found:

spyware_trak_msnspymonitor
spyware_keyl_alogger.250
Troj_generic
Removed them all running scan under safe mode

Can you please do the following.

Can you disable Windows Defender as it may interfere with the removal process. Please leave it disabled until your PC has been given the all clear.

• Open Windows Defender
• Click Tools
• Click General Settings
• Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
• Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
• After you uncheck this, click on the Save button
• Close Windows Defender

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
2. Click "Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

I went to safe mode and when I went to delete that file c:\windows\system32\atmfdu.dll It kept saying it was in use and I couldn't delete it.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.

Hmmm, thought that would get rid of it .

Please download VundoFix.exe
to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HijackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when
VundoFix appears at reboot.
