gep--I do not think you can stop people from emailing you, but you can allow only certain people's email to reach your Inbox. This is called Whitelisting
    http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/915

There also is a program called SpamPal
    http://www.spampal.org/usermanual/clients/oe/oe.html
They get around to telling you how to use for a whitelist at the bottom. I have not used it. It seems a bit complicated. And I am not sure how many of the other steps are needed before the whitelist will work.

gep, check you email online if you can. And if possible, use their filter. May have to activate it, but that has saved me bunch of hassle. Once I got it trained.

Or you can use a program like Firetrust's Mailwasher Pro, where you can define rules, such that anyone NOT on your Friends list gets a status code of blacklist.

You can download a 30-day evaluation copy and play with it. This is also the only program that I know of, where you buy it once and get free upgrades for the life of the product.

    Cheers,
