I email, they send you, it says:

As you install Webroot Spy Sweeper from the CD you received with your magazine, the software will prompt you to enter this code for activation.

...or you can just download it from their web site?

I had found that link on another forum. I already have a 2 year license for 1 PC. So I used this link to put it on my other pc.
I have to say, I never really read the email...

To me, it's a must have, had a 1 year license. When it was up, I upgraded by adding on a 2 year license extension.

I asked, because I have full versions of a-squared, and Superantispyware, happy with them, but I may give it a shot.

This freebie worked for me. Had to use my original CD from 2 years ago to re-install the software.

For those who do not already have Spy Sweeper, how do you get the download or get a CD of the program if you do not have a "CD you received with your magazine"?
Does the emailed "license code" work on the "free trial" download of Spy Sweeper 5.5?
Or maybe this is only for people in the UK, Australia, etc. where program software CD's are enclosed with magazines??

Jim, guess you didn't already use Spy Sweeper. I bought the app. about a year ago so luckily I still had the CD. I got their code, loaded my CD and now 5.5 is installed and working. BTW, when my one year's subscription expired, I did not renew it. May as well use it for a year for free now
I realize this is not the answer you seek but it is only an explanation since you apparently never used it before.

Thanks, buf. Please elaborate. I have a Spy Sweeper CD which I bought earlier. I have no idea what version--perhaps 5.0.
I never installed it. If I use the new license code (other that what is supplied with the CD) do I automatically update to 5.5 and get another year?

Jim, you probably do have version 5 on that CD. I just looked at mine and neither the jacket nor the CD indicates the version. Since you never installed it, you have a one year's update subscription with the CD. You could try to save the free version 5.5 (doubt that is possible) and use it after the expiration of the CD offering.
You may just wanna decide to ask for and receive the key for the freebie and install it; using the registration # the company will send to you in the good email addy that you will need to give them when you apply for it. I think the email you will receive will tell you have to install using the new Reg. #. Good luck to you. I will be only too glad to help, if you will post.
