remote mmc

trying to connect computer management mmc to a remote host on my network. For some reason it just wont establish a connection unles i disable the firewall on the remote pc.

I am trying to connect from my domain controller, which is pretty much a fresh install of server 2003, to an xp client. i have modified the domain group policy to enable remote dministration for the domain controllers ip address under the firewall settings. i run gpupdate and am logged in as the domain administrator but its not happening.

According to my book this is all i need to do. i have searched microsoft.com and google but cant find anything useful.

Have you looked for a setting in the Firewall to allow the connection?

"allow remote administration" yes? i get a message "computer \\charlie.mydomain.com cannot be managed. the network path was not found.
