[RESOLVED] Blank Screen
Have a Gateway Laptop running XP Home. (Didnt have the recovery disc with it.)
On start up just shows a blank screen (black)
Took HDD out error checked it by attaching it to another PC. Put it back into laptop got blue screen and message Process_Initialization_Failed and error 0x000006B.
Put HDD into another laptop tried using recovery console copying from system restore etc. - NADA still would't work.
Then reinstalled XP Home with HDD in other laptop (Gateway machine asks for Gateway supplied recovery disc) worked OK. Put HDD back into laptop got blank screen again (not even blue screen)
Took known working HDD from other laptop put it into Gateway machine same result blank (black) screen.
Any/all suggestions gratefully received.

You cannot normally get away with using a Windows installation from another machine, as XP is very hardware sensitive. Having said that, you would expect to get a BSOD rather than a blank screen.
Have a careful look, and hold the screen at different angles to the light and see if it really is blank, or if there is stuff on there that is just barely legible.

Have now done a complete reformat of the HDD (rather than the reinstall of XP I did b4....yep I know it just doesn't work) and did a fresh install.
Did get a 0x0000001A MEMORY MANAGEMENT error at first so reseated ram as well.
Now seems to be working OK.
Thanks as always for the advice.
