[RESOLVED] Where do downloads go?
Hi! I am in the process of setting up a laptop running Windows Vista Business. I downloaded a couple of pieces of software, and I don't know where they went! Where do I find them at?? I used Explorer to do the downloads, because (naturally) I can't find the Firefox download. If you know where they go, please let me know (guess I'm waxing poetic today)
Thanks!

Never mind. I ran system updates, rebooted, and now it's working fine.

Open up Windows Explorer, then expand your Username in the left hand pane, and you will see the downloads folder. Open that and they should be there.

Well I was going to say they go to the mythical Downloads Graveyard which is believed to be located somewhere in the woods behind Microsoft headquarters....but SuperSparks beat me to it.
As a suggestion....just for convenience sake I have all my downloads go into a folder called (appropriately enough) "HOLD" and have a shortcut to that folder on my desktop for easy access.

petflunky--Windows Updates may go to the Downloads folder automatically (since you are given no choice from Windows Updates). But unless Vista is different from WinXP, downloads of software using the Save Target As or File|Save As options go where you tell Windows to save the download in the Save As window. That location will be the same, unless you make changes, as the last time you saved a file.
So, if you forget where you saved something, you can click File|Save As again (on anything downloadable) and see what is in the "Save in" line. That is at the top of the Save As window and should be where the earlier download is located. You, of course, do not have to continue with the second download once you have seen what is in the "Save In" line.
