[RESOLVED] OWA in Exchange 2003 on Win2k3
I hope this is the right spot, I didn't see any categories for Exchange, but it is running on Server 2003.
We are running Outlook Web Access, and Active-sync for our mobile phones. This is all on an Exchange 2003 platform, in a Windows 2003 environment. We have a back end server running the exchange data base, and a front-end server for the web and phone access.
Both the web and the active sync have lived in harmony and worked flawlessly for a year. Well, we were running Win2k3 SP2 on the Front End box, and SP1 on the back-end. So, we decided to upgrade to SP2 on the back-end box. We did so. It broke the phone synchronization, but the OWA stuff still worked.
I tried a few things, and ultimately fixed it by turning on basic authentication in IIS on both boxes. I did this for the default web-site area, so it affected all of the virtual web directories. Well, that fixed the phones, they immediately started synching over they air, just like magic. Unfortunately, now I'm getting a "04 page not found error" when I try to do OWA.
Since the only thing I changed was adding the basic authentication to the default site, I'm guessing something in the OWA virtual directories doesn't like that. Does anyone know the exact security settings needed for the directories so both applications will function? I've looked at a lot of sites which give general troubleshooting and set up, but nothing specific.
Thanks

OK, I figured it out. I needed to remove anonymous authentication from the Exchange virtual folder, and it started working, (and my phone is still synching).
Good times.
