Unhappy Final Fantasy TnL Error... Help please

Okay short and to the point: I open FFXI--- goes full screen--- black blank page ---- closes/ blinks back to normal page --- error shows up

My computer has alot of extra space, really isn't old at all and hasn't had an issue like this before. I would have figured the game to work because it can play other 3-d ones like Sims2 and stuff... Yes I have read other threads like this one, but none have really been able to clearly explain. Please help, thanks :]

It sounds as though your integrated Intel graphics card is not up to the job or is not compatible with the game.

You may have already read this, but I found this post within the FFXI vault:
    http://vnboards.ign.com/ffxi_tech_su...940/r90062373/

There is a post by Dorien relating to getting the game to work using 3danalyzer.

Failing that, you may need to purchase a decent graphics card.

Well the link and thread it led to didn't help any because it was way confusing and... well didn't work how the steps planned it out to work... So much for that I guess. And I have heard about the graphics card, how much do those cost usually? For a recommended one or something? --- thanks

Well, I couldn't find many specifications for your PC, but will assume that it only has PCI expansion slots. The minimum specs as told by FFXI are:

    Operating System - Microsoft Windows 98 / 98SE / Me / 2000 / XP.
CPU / Processor - Intel Pentium III 800Mhz or faster processor.
Memory (RAM) - 128 MB RAM.
Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce series graphics processing unit with 32MB or ATI RADEON 9000 series graphics card.
Sound Card - DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card.
Hard Disk Space - 6 GB free hard disk space.
    CD-ROM Speed - 4x CD-ROM Drive (installation only).
    Others - Keyboard, Mouse.

Therefore a suitable card would be along the lines of:

You may find a more definitive answer if you raise a new post within the hardware section of VDr.
