    Resolved [RESOLVED] FireFox Locks Up

Twice in the past two days FireFox, version 1.5.0.11 has locked up on me. I had set up FireFox with 5 tabs and I had OE open and an one IE window.

    My system is as follows:

    W2K, SP 4
    512 MB RAM

Any ideas as to what is going on? Is there a maximum number of tabs that I can set up?

    Thanks,

    Linda

Have you tried upgrading FireFox? http://www.firefox.com

FWIW, here's a screenshot with Outlook 2003, IE7, and FireFox 2.0.0.3 with 10 tabs open:

    SpywareDr,

I have FireFox set to automatically download updates but just to be on the safe side, I went and checked. The FireFox version that I have is the latest version for W2K, so I guess I am just stuck.

Unless I finally give in and upgrade to XP but W2K works and is very stable. The big stumbling block is the amount of time it takes to reinstall everything and then to get everything to work.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Cheers,

    Linda

Well, I guess I will add FireFox to my list of reasons for upgrading to XP.

    Thanks,

No no, that's not what I meant. I still have an old Windows 98SE 800MHz laptop with 512MB RAM that's running Firefox 2.0.0.3. If it can do it, I don't know why your Windows 2000 machine can't.

Well, I guess I could uninstall FireFox and then download a new copy. Maybe that way I would get the latest version. Apparently that is the only way that I can possibly get this version, assuming that it will work, because when I click

Help on the Toolbar and then click on "Check for Updates" on the drop down menu.

I will post back and let you know if it worked.

    Thanks,

    Linda

Well, I learned two things today.

    1. On the Toolbar, the Help - Check for Updates does NOT work on a reliable basis.

    2. The Automatic Update functionality does NOT work either.

I have reported this to Mozilla but the good news is that I now have version 2.0.0.3 installed and working on my computer.

    Good news indeed.

Hopefully that'll solve the lockup problem.
