no audio from Rage 128 pro with TV capture
Hello all,
I installed an ATI Rage 128 pro on an AcerPower F1B machine running XP pro with all the updates. P4 with 512mb RAM. It is connected to cable to be able to record programs for school usage. The picture is fine as well as the audio when watching but when recording there is no audio on playback. Any ideas what could be the problem or is it a compatibility issue with the card and XP? Thanks
Brent

There shouldn't be a problem with that ATI card. That's video only. What program are you recording with? Might want to get a better codec pack such as K-Lite codec packs .The standard works well for most folks...
Stupid question? No such thing!

As per what RR says... I use a different make of capture card but I have to instruct it on which encoders (codecs) to use when I record. In order to record video in wmv format to save space, for example, I installed the Windows Media Encoder..
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...oEncoding.aspx
and instructed the cards recording software to use those video and audio codecs. I haven't used the ATI cards for that but it would be worth looking in its options to see which codecs are chosen by default and see if there is even an audio codec chosen at all. Windows wav encoder would be another option and it should already be installed.
