Install av on more than one pc?

Is it possible to purchase single version av software and install it on more than one pc?
To err is human. To forget to turn the NumLock on is just plain stupid.

Doubtfull. You'll have to read the fine print on the agreement.

For home PC's, AVG Free eliminates this problem. For paid software, check the license agreement for the software you want to use.

I'm to work on updating six pcs at one home this weekend. The guy has purchased a single pc version of Norton but has six pcs in the house (kids, wife, etc). I was going to suggest to him purchasing 2 Norton 360 packages. Each can be installed on three separate pcs. Come to find out he's already purchased Norton 2007. I was just wondering if I needed to tell him him to return it for the 360 version. I've never attempted to install a single version on more than one pc. I'm assuming there will be a hitch in the repeat installation process....something like "This version has already been installed...", blah, blah, blah.

Probably but not immediately. The software's license/key will be noted every time the program updates it's dat files and when Norton/Symantec realizes there's more than one copy of the software using the same license then it will probably be put on a blacklist and updates will stop... almost as bad as not having any a/v at all. That detection doesn't usually take too long with larger software companies.. weeks rather than months.

I assumed as much. I thought if it doesn't give me an error on installation...surely they will know when the dat files are updated.

And yes, I called you Shirley. Sorry..."Airplane" joke.

Thanks for your help! I appreciate all who contributed.
